Dating Simulator

WHEN WE LOVE is a hypertextual dating simulator where you date everything: people, birds, poems, historical events, ideas, and more. It is a social poem, a communal gathering, a new possibility.

It is a continuous, persistent browser-based game that blurs love offline and online, exploring its countless forms. Inspired by hypertext, Neopets, early net art, roguelikes, Pacthesis, simulation games, Jason Rohrer's work, Homestuck, incrementals, etc. — it is a strange simulation of love, a game infinitely played & clicked through and lived in.

Art pieces, performances, and interventions both offline and online, multiplayer and singleplayer, with variable duration, space, and meaning. More than a simple 'game', WHEN WE LOVE is a series of interconnected experiences inviting love to intervene on your everyday life.

Sometimes, you're moving (We Are Only Moving Towards Each Other), waking up in old beds (A Bedroom in Las Piñas), digging through comment sections (The Sound of Love), or answering papers (Concrete Form).





About

For over 3 years, I've been releasing small interventions about the possibility of love online. In ways, I've been working up the technical skills to make the main 'umbrella' game: When We Love, a massively multiplayer online loving game, a hypertext dating simulator....

I'm in love with continuous game worlds, simulations tended over decades, and places that I return to and live alongside. Love online might bend many mediums... Altogether, an experience, prompt, and realization about love on screens that extends beyond one screen.
